Welcome to the Center for Cultural Analysis

CCA building v2 sq

Welcome to the Center for Cultural Analysis, Rutgers University’s hub for interdisciplinary research in the humanities and humanistically-oriented social sciences.

Each year we run a biweekly seminar that draws faculty, advanced graduate students, and post-doctoral researchers into a sustained conversation on a topic of importance. In 2020-2021 the seminar theme is “What is Photography?”  The seminar meets from 1:10-4:10pm on alternate Wednesday afternoons and ordinarily discusses scholarship that has been pre-circulated to members.  Approximately half of the meetings are devoted to discussing the work of distinguished visitors.  All are welcome to attend! Working Groups

Each year, the Center for Cultural Analysis sponsors numerous Working Groups and provides administrative support to several Affiliated Groups as part of our commitment to critical inquiry and interdisciplinary research. Bringing together scholars from across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, these groups meet regularly to explore common interests, discuss salient questions, and plan small- and large-scale events. Convened to support faculty and graduate student research, they are an integral part of our mission to enhance interdisciplinary scholarship across Rutgers University.

For 2020-21, the Center for Cultural Analysis will sponsor five fellowships for Rutgers faculty, five fellowships for Rutgers graduate students, and two Postdoctoral Associate positions for external scholars.
