The symposium will feature roundtable discussions with a cross-disciplinary group of scholars about the ways their academic work echoes beyond the campus gates with broader publics and brings community issues onto campus. The format will be different from a typical conference: Three roundtable-style conversations will offer opportunities for participants to share not only their projects but also the strategies and practices they use to engage with publics beyond the university and to address community concerns in their work. Lunch, coffee, and snacks will be served, with a reception to follow. To help us get counts for catering, please RSVP at https://forms.gle/qCwdjERPnF7eMrj48 This event is sponsored by the Rutgers Center for Cultural Analysis 2019-20 Seminar on The University and Its Public Worlds, which is facilitated by Henry Turner and Jorge Marcone. Jessica Mack and Heather Steffen are the seminar’s postdoctoral fellows and the symposium’s co-organizers. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, and keep an eye on the CCA website for more information.
