He holds an MFA from the University of Michigan, where he was the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Prize, and a PhD from Brown University. He has published essays on Immanuel Kant, Pierre Bourdieu, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Percy Shelley and has recently completed a monograph titled Brown Romantics: Poetry and Nationalism in the Global Nineteenth Century, which traces the influence of British Romanticism on South Asian, Australian, and Guyanese poets. He is currently developing a second book project on literary controversies of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Areas of Interest: British Romanticism, world literature, postcolonialism, poetry, and aesthetic theory.
