• Otter’s earlier book, Diet for a Large Planet, examined the food and health consequences of industrialization in the 19-20th centuries and British responses to hunger. His new project looks at the relationship between technology, food, and landscapes. He has provided us a chapter from his new project on Anthromes/anthropogenic landscapes to use as a basis for discussion. We’ll be shifting gears to think about the environmental consequences of hunger and food production, but no exploration of the topic would be complete without thinking about the way that hunger has been written onto the global landscape.
